    Sustainability In The News
    Greenland Iceberg

Sustainability increasingly held the media’s attention in 2006. As we enter 2007, sustainability remains a compelling topic in the news. Here are a few big stories from the month of January.

  • New Island Uncovered In Greenland As Result Of Global Warming – Glacial melting is changing the shape of Greenland’s coastline. A former peninsula in Greenland was recently identified as an island.
  • Internet Neutrality And Sustainability – Congress is considering a bill that prevents large internet providers from giving higher speed access to web companies paying a higher fee. While seemingly unrelated to sustainability, regulation of internet access would dramatically affect the distribution of information necessary to promoting sustainability.
  • Moratorium On Al Gore Film Sparks Controversy – Massive debates occurred in the Federal Way school district between parents and teachers after parents objected to screenings of An Inconvenient Truth during school hours.

  • Ten Things YOU Can Do To Help Green Your Community (that will save you green)
    Portland

Save the world and save some money. As seen on The Weather Channel, SustainLane Government has compiled an index of the top ten easy things you can do to green your community.
