Sister Rose Marie Tulacz of Thousand Oaks, Ca,
shares her success using a non-toxic insect
repellent
in this great, informative review.
“I have found Garlic
Barrier, a non toxic insect repellent,
[is] very
effective in keeping insects from getting on
plants and
trees. It also provides nutrients naturally
for all plants,
ranging from flowers, citrus, and
vegetables ... yielding
strong and vibrantly healthy foliage, fruits,
and
vegetables. It is non-toxic and 99.3% is pure
garlic
juice, with .5% citric acid and .2%
potassium-sorbate.
The product comes as a concentrate and can be
diluted and applied as a preventative
treatment prior to
insect infestation, and I have found by
maintaining a
re-treatment schedule every two weeks I am
able to
maintain the repellency effect. My success
has been
for the natural repelling of white flies,
aphids and
grasshoppers.”

Discovering Aveda’s non-toxic mascara,
Mosscara—made from Icelandic moss—thrilled
SustainLane
staffer, Val B.
In Val’s words, “This mascara is great. When I found
out that
there were harmful chemicals in most
cosmetics, I
freaked out, and found out that Aveda tries
not to
put harsh and dangerous things in their
products.
This mascara works just as well as the
kind
you'd buy in the drug store or at the makeup
counter,
and only costs 12 bucks. It's also so
funny—when it's
wet it smells like moss! So funny. The smell
eventually goes away. It's cool.”
