SustainLane Newsletter

  April 2008
Edition 51
Greetings!

No matter how you spin it, we're passing some real challanges on to the next generation. While the presidential candidates debate big issues, we at SustainLane are thinking more about the small steps... and our small steppers. How can we best impart lessons of sustainability on to our children and grandchildren?

Netty L. suggests getting kids involved in educational games like Xeko, Tricia A. advises parents to feed their kids right even when it doesn't feel that way, and SustainLane VP Jay G. explains how he teaches his son sustainable values with a lunchbox.

Speaking of kids, make sure to check out this week's Green Video of the Week, SustainLane's own green-friendly kid series Gorilla in the Greenhouse. Plus, read up on all the latest green kid news in our In the News section.

Green Video of the Week - Gorilla in the Greenhouse
Gorilla in the Greenhouse
Attention kids and parents! Check out SustainLane's own Gorilla in the Greenhouse, a brand new cartoon about kids being kids while living sustainably. The pilot episode, entitled "The Great Pacific Garbage Patch," follows our heroes as they face a demented plot by Dr. Morton Huffelbot to create an island of plastic bags in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Watch it now!

Have any ideas for next weeks green video of the week? (the topic is "Summer Veggies") Please e-mail us at community@sustainlane.com and let us know!

Featured Product: Xeko Trading Card Game
XEKO Trading CardsKids love games, so make the most of a great teachable moment. Lose the brain numbing videogames and introduce your kids to Xeko, a card game similar to Magic the Gathering. The difference: Xeko features endangered species instead of wizards and elves, and teaches kids to build holistic ecosystems instead of dungeons. Sounds like a game even adults could get into... right Netty L.?
