| Make An Emergency Plan for Your Loved Ones

Having a detailed, rehearsed plan of action in case of emergencies makes it much more likely that all of your loved ones will make it through safely.
Kids: The US Department of Homeland Security has created a website called Ready Kids to help prepare you and your little ones for any natural disaster you come face to face with.
Pets: Pets are NOT allowed in Red Cross Safety Shelters, and during large disasters most rescue workers will refuse to evacuate pets. There are good reasons for this, but our pets are part of our families, so make sure your disaster plan includes a contingency for your pets. Click here to see what the Red Cross suggests.
