But 2009 is poised for an upswing; our first "green" president is taking office in just a few short weeks and has an artillery of optimism and positivity backing him up. And judging from the word of the year, green issues are jumping from the back burner to the most burning issues on our minds.

So curl up with a steaming cup of cocoa, take in the news of 2008, and get ready for a great new year.
