Dont Buy's review

Don't Buy SIGG

I had my SIGG for about 6 months and the liner started to wear and flake off around the thread area (Where the cap screws in). I guess it was due to the wear and tear of opening and closing the cap. Look closely around your thread area and ensure that none of the aluminum is exposed. The lining is yellow. If you see any silver, that’s aluminum. Aluminum, if leached into the water, can cause Alzheimer's disease. I have switched to a Laken bottle and it does not have this problem. See how they solved it at www.laken.es.

I agree with this comment. I switch to stainless steel bottles. There is absolutely no coating or lining inside the bottles. Zero health concerns with Stainless steel bottles. The brands of stainless steel bottles are Klean Kantee, Sub-Zero.

Thank you

Sigg Thermos' are a good alternative. They are made out of stainless steel and high-grade rubber tops. Hence no aluminum or plastic to contend with. My review is below:

Unfortunately, stainless steel may leach NICKEL ( steel = iron, nickel, chromium) so glass is the way to go.

Wish I would have read this blog before my purchase.
Currently I use "LIFELINE green" S/S bottles that cost me $ 15.00 each. I travel & use them to contain liquor, wine, juices, water, seltzer, etc. w/o any problems or concerns.
Today @ Walgreens I purchased 4 of the "SubZero" stainless steel bottles, Model # HK8701-750, for $3.33 each ad price. 1 was not colored while the others were 1 each of black, red, & blue/purple. I purchased the "SubZero"'s w/ hopes of saving some $$$.
I have compared the bottles & the "LIFELINE green" is superior in quality & workmanship. The "SubZero"'s displayed a side seam & bottom seam w/ an added bottom inside & out. Also, while in the store I noticed 1 of the bottles on the shelf had 'gunk" coming from the lip seam That I could not remove by scraping.
As a test I have cleaned all of the "SubZero" bottles & left water in them to see whAt happens.
Like to save $$, but my health is more important.
Any constructive input is apreciated.

I agree. And let's be really clear about European standards, they are NOT high when it comes to BPA, no higher than the USA FDA which has a very high upper limit. Though Europe has some higher standards, when it comes to leaching BPA, they are minimal. So no different than any where else. Japan is more stringent.
