Comments on Amy's review of An Inconvenient Truth
An Inconvenient Truth
Description: A documentary on Global Warming.
Our planet will thank Al Gore
Sometimes I wonder if this whole green awareness would be where it's at without Al Gore's movie. I really don't think that it would.
I felt the movie did an amazing job of showing the audience exactly how seriously and how quickly our planet is reaching the "tipping point" for climate crisis. If this were where it ended, I would have stepped in front of a bus when I walked out of the theatre.
Instead, Gore demonstrates how quickly we can stop these numbers from rising by starting with small changes. Most documentaries make me leave feeling rather empty and helpless, but an Inconvenient Truth was accessible enough to make even my parents start to make small changes. It is the small changes that every single person can make that will contribute to the larger picture.
While it is true that Al Gore may be riding around in a private jet to get to a number of his speaking engagements, I'd say his contribution (monetarily, through this documentary, through his poitics, etc) is offsetting any jetsetting he may be doing.
This movie is a big factor in tipping green living to a larger market. I bought a copy and passed it on to a family member and asked that it get passed on and on to whoever they find that hasn't seen it. I hope it is still being passed down the line, perhaps to people I've never met.
