Comments on Marissa's review of Automatic Composter
Stinky and Difficult
After reading the instructions thouroghly I was excited to try my new composter. After the first week I had a smelly mess that would linger in my kitchen every time I opened the lid. My husband was trying to be patient with me but I could see it was bothering him. I cleaned out the contents and tried again. Smell was better, but contents were nothing like what I know compost to be. It was orange/brown and gritty with bits of food not broken down. The straw that broke the camels back was the white mold that started growing in the mixing bin and the collection chamber. I found out I can return it to Target so I held my nose, put on dish gloves and went to cleaning it again. Compost was caked on the bottom of the mixing chamber and I had to scrap it off with a razor blade. I could definatly see a jam in my future. Sad it didn't work, but I give up. The thing that drew me to it was no smell and easy to operate. Neither is true in my case.

Paper will do that. We had the same problem. It can also cause a jam. I suggest avoiding paper in your compsot.

I never put paper in the machine :( thanks for the tip!
