Tree Free Paper
The album, at the time, was their most noteworthy chart debut (with over 700,000 copies sold in first week), emerging at #2 and producing hit singles such as: "By the Way", "The Zephyr Song" , "Can't Stop", "Dosed", and "Universally Speaking". It is the most subdued album they had generated to date, focusing primarily on melodic ballads as opposed to their classic style of rap-driven funk. The Red Hot Chili Peppers insisted that their label, Warner Bros., use tree-free and recycled paper on their new release, By The Way. The CD features a 12 page CD insert printed on Living Tree Paper Company's Déjà Vu™ 100# Matte Text.
