Description: Water bottle with built in filter.
The problem with disposable plastic bottles isn't just the fact that they are made out of plastic and that so many of them end up in the landfill. It is also that the bottles aren't very clean after several uses -- they aren't the healthiest thing to use. I've tried one of these corn resin bottles -- same issues mentioned by other reviewers: not easy to drink out of and not sturdy enough. The bottle will still end up in the landfill.
This bottle filters for chlorine - not for any other pests in water, so don't use it for filtering water from unpurified sources, like streams, rivers or lakes.
For my backpacking and hiking trips, I'll still rely on a Katadyne plastic bottle with a built in filter -- I know this bottle will withstand falling down some rocks and it will last a long time. As long as I can retrieve it from where it fell down the rocks.
Sometimes, you just have to go with the best option - even if it is made out of plastic - because it will last longer and require less inputs.
