I lived in Palo Alto for 7 years, and I'd go to Country Sun, like people go to the movies. I'd easily spend 2 hours walking the aisles of this small store on California Ave. It is a treasure trove of books, products I'd never heard of before, great organic and raw food items, and best of all, they have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff of people working the back counter. I was never able to stump the Country Sun staff on any vitamin/mineral/herb/amino acid question. They choose high quality brands to represent, and they know what each bottle, pill, and potion can do for you. They also have a great "bin foods" section for flours and other organic/natural food items. Their bath products are the best too...smell great, no junk in them, and lots of samples to try out. I miss Country Sun now that I live up in Berkeley, but I always stop in when I am down on the Penninsula. Try out this neighborhood independent health food store, it will become home for you.
