Stephanie, I agree with you on so many levels with this one. I just saw a program the other day (I don't remember if it was on Discovery or Science or History - one of those) That was completely devoted to how we would go about, not treating the cause of our problems (HUGE carbon footprint, vast swaths of homogeneous plant species, water diversions) and instead focused on how we would treat the symptoms (global warming). Some of these solutions include (and I am not kidding here - i wish I was) to seed the ocean with carbon dioxide eating plankton, creating giant clouds to reflect the suns rays, and my personal favorite, covering the entire arctic ice sheet with giant plastic reflectors!
What a waste of time and money! Nature knows where the balance belongs, she has always brought us out of bad times before caused by large disasters. Just stop killing her and let her heal. We will all be better off that way than if we try and mess around with things we just don't understand and end up causing problems none of us could have predicted.
