Great On The Lawn Too!
I NEVER buy regular dish soap anymore. Whether it's 7th Gen. or some other brand, I always get the natural cleaners. I recently found out that mixing in a half-cup of dish soap with one of those spray bottles that attaches to your hose really helps keep chiggers and small pests off your lawn without harming the environment or killing insects. It worked like a charm for me. Just be sure not to over spray, and don't do it on a hot day because you want the liquid to soak in before it dries.

Sarah S. says:
Using dish soap to reduce pests is certainly better than using toxic chemicals, however I would like to clarify that it does still kill insects. The way soap (natural or otherwise) works is by having a hydrophobic (fat-loving) end and a hydrophilic (water-loving) end. This makes it easy to get fatty bits into the water to be washed away. With insects, it makes it possible to disrupt the cell membranes, or to remove the waxy protective layer. For smaller, soft-bodied insects this often results in death. Some will be pests, but not all. For more info check out this website: http://www.ext.colostate.edu/Pubs/insect/05547.html
