Comments on Jep's review of Keetsa
Description: Keetsa sells an eco-friendly, healthy hybrid mattress, pillows, protectors and other sleep environment material.
SUPERGREEN WASHING!
SUPERGREEN washed ---
if you want this toxic product for 1/2 the cost - Walmart (dot com), also a few of the products can be found at HeartlandAmerica. (all of my price quotes are based on a queen size) also "whypaymoreshoppe" seller on eBay has excellent prices (I am not affiliated)
Keetsa's 10" Cloud = $1044.00
Walmart's 10"" Aerus Natural Memory Foam Mattress =$529.88
Heartland's Theratouch Memory Mattress =$424.94
"whypaymoreshoppe" Classic 10" = $459.99 (free shipping)
Keetsa's contour pillow $69.99
Walmart's Eco-Friendly Memory Foam Contour Pillow $27.88
Keetsa's metal bedframe: $229.99
Bedzine (same owner as Keetsa) metal bedframe $174.99
Heartland's Smartbase frame: $109.98 (incl. shipping)
Walmart's Smartbase frame: $99.99
Facts:
Keetsa's products are made a manufacture in China, Zinus (yes they have an office in Pleasanton). Zinus holds the patent on "Mattress-in-a-box".
Keetsa is not a mattress company - they are a marketing company.
Many vendors carry the 'non green tea' mattress-in-a-box if you don't want to pay $$$$ for literal green washing. (search "mattress-in-a-box)
If you use a mattress, pad and sheets --- and wash them, you don't need the green tea to 'freshen' your mattress.
If Keetsa were truly concerned about the environment and their customers health they would post the chemical material declaration sheet of the mattress, as well as the VOC testing results.
Keetsa does not give you your $$ back if you are unhappy - just a store credit MINUS 15% and $100 mattress disposal charge????
Keetsa's owner also sells non green tea mattress (and the metal frame) for much less than at Keetsa on a site call Bedzine.com
Why did I do all of this research? I hate being lied to --- and I think it is gross that companies like Keetsa are taking advantage of consumers trying to make a more healthy choice.

Hmmm....I love a good smear campaign. Especially when they are not based in fact.
Jep, I mean John H., I mean E.P. Hollister, is obviously someone who does not know much about Keetsa.
Let's dissect this diatribe one line at a time.
First, yes, our mattresses are manufactured to our specifications by a company called Zinus.
Second, we don't "wash" our mattress in green tea. That is ludicrous and should show you that this person lacks any credibility whatsoever. Why wouuld anyone "wash" foam in tea?
What we DO however is manufacture an amazing biofoam, replacing a large percentage of the petroleum oil with plant oils and green tea extract. This makes for a foam that is less dependent on oil and has a very low VOC.
We also are producing a natural latex mattress with an organic cotton cover that is soon to be available.
And since we are genuinely concerned about our customers health and the environment I will be posting that information on our website in the next few days, so that people like this who have an agenda to hurt companies with false information will not have much of a leg to stand on.
If THEY were really concerned about the environment, they would not be hurling stones anonymously from the sidelines, but working with companies such as ours to affect change on a positive level.
So, if you are looking for an affordable, healthy mattress, check out Keetsa :)

Great post. I went on their website and it was FISHY. There is really not much eco-friendly about these mattresses and they are as laden with chemicals as any other memory foam is (they replace a measly 12% of their petro-based memory foam with something other than petroleum. wow. how substantial)
I want to ad though stay away from Live for Tomorrow, Inc. If you want more info read my review on them (also on this site). They are somewhat of a scam. I would recommend Sleeptek and Savvy Rest Natural Latex Mattresses if you really want a non-toxic, chemical-free product.
Joe A. says:
Hi Norell,
If you used proper spelling and grammar, you comments might be taken more seriously.
"Not much eco-friendly"? Let's look at the facts, then intelligent people can decide:
-Keetsa Mattresses outlast most major brands, carrying one of the best warranties in the market. By outlasting other brands, you are not buying a new mattress every 5-7 years and wasting materials nor clogging landfills.
-Keetsa created a memory foam that tests out at no detectable VOC's and uses no harmful toxic chemicals to pass federal fire regulations.
-Keetsa does not employ a fleet of delivery trucks and cuts down on the amount of shipping due to it's packaging innovations.
-Keetsa uses organic cotton and bamboo fabrics, which are sustainable.
-Keetsa sells one of the least expensive 100% natural latex mattresses in the market, and it comes in a box you fit in your Prius.
-Keetsa sells for about half the price of major brands, giving a green option to the masses.
-Some customers are allergic to latex and absolutely cannot sleep on latex. By replacing a percentage of the petroleum oil with plant oil,
we are able to produce a no VOC/less dependency on petroleum memory foam. We would replace more, but at this time it is the highest
percentage we can without affecting the integrity of the foam.
What you call a great post was a diatribe filled with false statements and fallacies. I am confident that any person of average intelligence, once they review all the information, can plainly see how Keetsa is providing a low cost, healthy, durable, comfortable alternative to Tempurpedic, Serta, Sealy, Simmons, Spring Air and all the major brands.
If you want to be taken seriously in the future, do your homework and research before

Joe A. of Keetsa,
I didn't bother to read all your reply post. Seriously, I didn't. Because it's primarily nasty and rude and condescending, no matter what facts you can put before me secondarily. No customer wants to be treated that way. I am a potential customer here, remember? And you can bet that that potential isn't going to come to life any time soon, and I'll make sure that others know that Keetsa's customer service seriously sucks among other things.
At least the owners of KushTush were kind when their customers complained about them. Take a lesson.
Joe A. says:
With all due respect Norell, your posting is not from a customer. I will apologize for taking an aggressive stance, but put yourself
in my shoes. A person such as yourself carelessly and recklessly posts damaging and untrue information about my company, and
I am supposed to be happy about it? You start off your posting agreeing with the obvious drivel above, which was part of a smear
campaign from a competitor, posted on lots of sites all over the internet. By saying our product is "laden with chemicals as any other memory foam is" is not only untrue but could be viewed as litigious. You did not pose it as a question, as if you were a customer. If you truly researched our website you would have found our third party VOC report in plain view, downloadable. No other memory foam company will do that for you.
I again apologize for my tone. I grow weary of working hard to provide a healthier alternative to the horrible off gassing garbage offered out in the market. In fact, visiting a retailer today, they showed me the Vera Wang mattresses by Serta. The rep told them it has an organic cotton cover. Yeah, but of course they won't inform him what they use for their fire barrier or what the VOC of the foam is.
So, let's draw a truce and learn from this one shall we? I will temper my response and you will gather all the facts before smearing a company and hurting hard working families who are trying to make a living and make a difference. Agreed?
Norell L. says:
Alright, Joe A. Truce! However,
I do want to make note to you where my post was coming from. I have certain standards of what TRULY Eco-safe, earth-friendly, organic, all natural, non-toxic, biodegradable, chemical-free, etc. means & meat to me when I was in the market looking for a mattress that is all of the above. (And not to say that your plight as a businessman is not tough as well, but it took me over a month to achieve the purchase that I was going for and I ended up spending 2X what I was intending to spend to get EXACTLY what I wanted.
My standards for a safe, pure mattress are that it has to be completely free of synthetic substances-- completely free of ALL petro-chemical based substances, and polyester. I ended up purchasing a Sleeptek Sueno (Private label name) 6"+2" that consists solely of 100% natural latex (97% pure latex with the other 3% consisting of 1 1/2% zinc oxide and 1 1/2% sodium carbonate), certified organic cotton, organically raised and processed wool, and natural threads. I believe even the zipper is metal, not plastic. This is after 3 cancelled orders/exchanges from 3 separate companies I found to be deceitful at the last minute. There are a lot of half-eco-conscious companies that took me for a little ride.
My post that you call "misinformed" was going off of the fact that some of your products marketed as eco-friendly do contain some petroleum-based substances (although I am aware that a percentage of the memory foam you use is of a natural substance) and some polyester. I'm sure your products are more eco-friendly than a conventional mattress, to me, "Eco-Friendly, non-toxic, natural, etc." means "100% eco-friendly, 100% non-toxic, 100% natural, etc. I do not waiver on my personal standards of what a "green" mattress should be. Perhaps your company did not deserve the negative comment I gave it originally, but still, a few of your product descriptions do leave a little bit to be desired for me personally.
Norell L. says:
Oops. "Means and MEANT to me." Sorry.
Joe A. says:
Thank you :) It is for customers like you that we make a 100% pure, certified pure, not blended, latex mattress with wool and organic cotton. Thank you for your well-thought out response.
Joe
Nese O. says:
I agree that there are other ways of blocking out smells than bathing materials in green tea, but I like that they are getting rid of the nuisance for me, considering most mattresses I have gotten my hands onto (tempera pedic mattresses and a Serta mattress in mind) smell like chemicals. And like Keeta, Sleep Train and Mattress Discounter stores also do not give the buyer their money back; they too give you a store credit, keeping the business in their pockets. The 15% credit minus and $100 mattress disposal charge sucks, but I still say the mattresses rock and with the price I am willing to take the risk of exchange charges.
Joe A. says:
Hi Nese,
Thank you for you nice comments about our products. I just wanted to point out all companies charge a
restocking fee on returns or exchanges, we just are honest about ours. What do I mean? Most companies
tack these fees on in the prices of all their mattresses, so you are paying for all this "free" stuff that is not
really free. We just decided instead to charge a reasonable price for our goods, then we take a lot of time
with our customers to help them choose the right mattress so they don't have a return. The buying public
has just been lulled into a false sense of expectation because most companies are deceptive in their pricing.
When you see a store advertising "Free this" or "Free that", trust me, they are not giving you charity. Nothing
is free. The difference in our company is that we work with a small staff, low overhead and small profit margins
so our customers are treated with respect and fairly.
