What a joy to discover a wine that doesn't make me feel bad. When travelling to the island of Cyprus, I drank local wines that were not adulterated to keep them fresh for a long journey, and discovered the joy of local wines. Most wines, with their added sulfites, have always made me feel sick. One small glass and I felt like I had the flu; the next morning was even worse!
Now that I have discovered the Frey Natural White, with no added sulfites and a great taste, I can enjoy wine the way it was meant to be. Interestingly enough, not every bottle tastes the same. The first bottle I tried about 6 months ago had a taste reminiscent of a fine French sauterne, then the next one was less sweet, but still fruity and good. Maybe they'll get it more standardized, but in some ways I hope not. Each bottle is a new adventure and has never been a disappointment.
I've been tasting organic wines since they started appearing on the shelves. Many are downright bad (though hopefully improving), and those from other vineyards still add sulfites. The Frey wines are consistently excellent. The Cabernet Sauvignon, which I think is biodynamic, is superb. The Zinfandel, also biodynamic, pales in comparison to the Cab., but pairs well with lighter foods.
Both the Natural Red and Natural White are a great find and priced well enough that I don't save them just for company. Thank you, Frey!
