not a great idea to make something that's not a quality durable good, needing constant replacement with disposable carbon cartridges.
although i like the better tasting water, brita filters do not remove benzene, flouride, or all chlorine taste from your tap water.
the business model assumes we don't care whether we store water in plastic containers, and that we don't mind continually buying more of the company's shoddy product (no choice to recycle in the US--but you can return to the maker in the UK! unequal treatment!!)
besides these, i strongly prefer--require--tap water and shy away from all plastic bottled waters.
good in concept but need to make it more sustainable with a zero-waste lifecycle. ie, cradle-to-cradle design. that would be smart and something i could support! as soon as i use up my cartridges (or leave them for emergencies only) i'm going to find a better filtration system.....

Ken, send us your used filter! Did you see my post tonight on the Zero Waste web site? Check out http://www.takebackthefilter.org! We are urging Clorox to take responsibility for these plastic cartridges!
