Breathing easy with EDTA chelation therapy in San Francisco
The FDA approved EDTA chelation as safe and effective for removal of lead in humans. It turns out that there is significant evidence that EDTA chelation also clears arteries of plaque (the NIH is currently doing a mutl-year test in DC that should confirm this once the results are in). EDTA is considered a controversial treatment, but having done it myself several times now, I can attest to the results, at least on my body. My blood pressure has dropped 40 points on the top line (systolic), and 15 points on the bottom line (diastolic). My cholesterol is down 30 points, I have more energy, and I sleep better. If you are looking into alternative treatments for good heart health and heavy metal removal, look into EDTA chelation therapy. The San Francisco Preventive Medical Group is where I go. They have been there for 25 years, and are experienced working with chelation, as well as several other anti-aging and wellness therapies. The clinic is run by Dr. Paul Lynn.

Jenn A. says:
They are so expensive! It's $350 for the initial consultation, and chelation is around $125 per session and the office manager said most people have to do 20 sessions.
James E. says:
Well Jenn, you bring up a good point. Today, unfortunately, holistic and alternative health care costs a lot of money, and you have to pay for that yourself, out of pocket. While there are a few health insurance plans now for alternative healing, they are also expensive, and quite limited.
The initial exam costs includes about an hour with a doctor, going over your entire medical history. When's the last time you spent an hour talking with a doctor? And not just any doctor. These doctors over there are extremely well-versed in the latest studies on alternative healing, and they go by what has been documented as working, not fly-by-night scams. They run extensive blood tests to determine deficiencies, so they can customize a protocol for your type of situation. Again, when's the last time anyone customized anything for you in a medical setting?
Chelation is incredible. Yes, it costs $125 a session and at 20 sessions, that's a cool $2500! But you know what? A bypass heart surgery goes for somewhere north of $100k. The crazy thing is that health insurance will pretty much pay for the whole $100k...you might have to pay for your own cable tv while you're in the hospital, but other than that...it's on the house! So, $2500 you pay now, or nothing later. The thing is, what you don't see is the quality of life you get to enjoy in those 30-40 years in-between, and while I can't say that you won't have to get open heart surgery if you get chelation therapy today, I can tell you that the SF Preventive Medical Clinic treatment room is full of patients who have dramatically lowered their blood pressure, cholesterol, and heart attack markers considerably, myself included, through chelation therapy. Was this worth the approx. $3k I had to pay out of pocket? I think so!
Something to think about. Disclaimer: I have no financial stake in chelation, or the SF preventative medical clinic.
Jenn A. says:
For people at risk of heart complications, that is definitely a compelling option -- how do you get this kind of information across to populations that really need it? In the African American community, the life expectancy of most men is shockingly low due to the increased coronary and HBP issues. How can people who make under $50K/year (and live outside the target demographic of Whole Foods) actually afford this kind of treatment, even if they have heard of it? How do you convince them that it works when they're inculcated in the church of Western medicine?
James E. says:
It's a matter of priorities. You can spread these treatments out over a series of years...the effects are cumulative. Chelation is actually an FDA approved treatment for heavy metals removal, and EDTA is particularly effective in lead removal. When you take a look at all the mercury and other metals now in our food and water chains, chelation therapy is a good preventative. There are many, many scientific studies out now that points to heavy metals toxicity in Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and depression, among other illnesses. On the topic of how to get out the word...this is a tough one, because there is so much disinformation out there on the topic of chelation. One excellent book written by a Harvard MD is "Bypassing Bypass Surgery" which I highly recommend for anyone who is concerned about heart disease. For heavy metal removal, there are also lots of great books out there, a few that are listed on this website, just search chelation.
