Star Spangled Infusion

At first, I thought the packaging was too Americana...red, white and blue. And, reading the name "Star Spangled Herbal" made my thoughts wander off, on this chilly day , to a summer scene with me sitting in the shade, sipping it iced in July. But, after reading the description on the back of the box, I snapped up the last three boxes they had on the shelf at Poggi Bonsi.

This complex, caffeine-free, herbal and flower infusion includes hibiscus, chamomile and a variety of mints and berries...and, just so you'll know how awesome this herbal tea really is, I'll tell you the other ingredients: spearmint, peppermint, rosehip, raspberry leaf, lemongrass, apple, elderberry, Corinth, papaya leaf, strawberry leaf, wild cherry bark, red clover, star anise, Damiana, horsetail, hyssop, wintergreen, lavender, marigold flower, orange peel, plantain, cornflower, lemon peel, and passion flower. Oh, yes, I definitely plan on making "sun tea" with it, serving Star Spangled Herbal over ice this summer.

Notes: (1) Although I refer to this blend as a tea, it is actually an infusion, since it is made from herbs and flowers. (2) A box holds 25 individual sachets and cost me $9.25/box. (3) Barnes & Watson donates a percentage of their annual profits to support charitable causes to fight hunger and help children throughout the world.
