I had high hopes for this product -- I even got the 3-pack. I find that it doesn't glide on my lips as nicely as other balms, and though I do love peppermint, it doesn't seem to work so well on my lips (I don't like the peppermint in the Burt's Bees as well, either).
One of these Terra Tints has ended up in the pocket of my swimmer's coat, and I find it's what I end up applying on my way into the pool. It always makes me think of a woman who was on a different masters swim team who would always put on waterproof lipstick before every swim workout -- I think she was actually on the team's syncro team (couldn't see someone from water polo doing that, but then, knowing this particular team, one never could tell). Fortunately, it's dark and nobody can see that I'm being one of those goofy women who wears make up in the pool (seriously - who are those women who put on a ton of makeup before going to work out in the gym?).
This seems like a fairly waterproof lip balm and it's done yeoman's service for me -- I'm just not positive that I'd buy it again over some other SPF rated lip balm without a tint.
As with other Alba products, this one is cruelty-free:
- Hypo-allergenic
- SPF 18
- 100% natural mineral color
- No artificial colors, petrolatum, mineral oil, phthalates or parabens.
- 100% vegetarian ingredients and no animal testing
If you ever have a question about whether cosmetics ingredients are animal-based, check out this nifty list:

And - of course - this lip balm uses a chunk of plastic and I'm not sure if it is recycleable... does anyone know?
