I love Green Glass because it makes beautiful new things (Wine Glasses, Jewelry, etc.) out of recycled glass. The method Green Glass uses to make wine glasses is ingenious, but a little tricky to explain. Imagine turning a wine bottle upside down. The lowest part of the wine bottle (now, the neck) is the stem of the new glass, which widens to the full width of the wine bottle, at which point the bottle is cut through to make the rim of the wine glass. The base of the wine glass is then made my cutting the base of the original bottle and then adhering it to the base of the new glass. I also love Green Glass because it was an idea borne and developed in Southern Africa, where it provided disadvantaged people from local communities with environmentally friendly careers. Excellent.
