Have you heard of TNT? The 4th largest express delivery company in the world. They are Dutch, but operate in the US as well. Their CEO, concerned about CO2 emissions, launched a company-wide program called Planet Me, asking all employees to participate. They aim to drastically cut their own contribution to emissions by implementing changes throughout the company, including using vegetable-based fuel for their new planes. Their innovative new landing method uses 20% less fuel. That isn't enough, as they want employees to make changes at home too. Motivating employees to join the effort not just at work but also at home is crucial, and has an immense impact on their community. It's amazing what one inspired and passionate CEO can do to help change the world, one simple step after another. I hope other businesses use this as a model to introduce change.
