Vanilla Rose and the Red Dress
After a long day of running errands, I put on the teapot as soon as I walked in the door. Earlier in the day, I purchased Celestial Seasoning's new decaffeinated tea, Vanilla Rose. It's lovely, almost creamy, and soothing. I drank two cups.
I'm glad it caught my eye. It was the packaging: a young woman wearing a heart necklace, swirling about in her spaghetti-strap red dress, holding a steaming cup of tea. All around her, it read: "Proceeds to WomenHeart"; "NEW"; "Proud Partner of The Heart Truth", "Women & Heart Disease".
Celestial Seasoning is helping to "Fight Women's Heart Disease" by giving proceeds from Vanilla Rose sales to raise awareness and support education about heart disease (#1 killer of women in US) and heart health.
According to research, quoted on the inside of the (100% recycled paperboard) box, two cups of black tea a day provides as many flavonoids (known to protect against heart disease and cancer) as a serving of fruit or vegetables. I didn't know that.
