Nothing Sustainable About Fiji Bottled Water

Hey - didn't you get the memo? Only about 12-14% of all these plastic water bottles are actually recycled. That means that millions and millions of these go to the landfill every day.

If that doesn't get you steamed on the topic of bottled water, think about the costs in exporting water from a limited aquifer in Fiji to the rest of the world. Do you really think that aquifer is going to have water in it forever? Do you really think that those people on a distant, dry rock in the middle of the ocean don't need that water?

Regardless of common perception, most islands out in the middle of the Pacific have very little fresh water or precipitation. Kauai may have the most rainfall of any place on earth in the Waimea Canyon, but that is the exception rather than the rule.

Get a nice stainless steel reusable water bottle and drink water from your kitchen sink. Get a filter if you don't like the taste but please don't buy Fiji water.
