The Whole Foods market in Palatine, IL is an great example of how responsible and progressive companies can promote organic products into the broader marketplace. By promoting these kinds of products, companies like Whole Foods encourage marketing and demand, thus hopefully causing an increase in production and change toward a more sustainable farming economy.
The Whole Foods Market in Palatine appears to be a more typical suburban market than their store in for example the Lakeview neighborhood in Chicago. Fortunately for us in Palatine and the surrounding area this store allows us some more sustainable and healthy alternatives than the regular Jewel or Dominicks and may push those stores to also become more progressive.
Some state a negative in that companies like Whole Foods takes away market share from the older, typical organic food store. While this may be true, I believe the positives outweigh the negatives. I'm glad to have the option Whole Foods offers.
