Position Overview:
The primary focus of this position is the optimization of building mechanical and electrical systems through technical analysis.
Responsibilities:
As an Associate Consultant, Green Building Systems, you will:
- Channel your passion for sustainability to optimize building mechanical and electrical system design
- Employ your rigorous analytical skills to perform technical analysis, including: calculations that support building systems integration, intelligent building facades, energy and daylighting simulations, water balance modeling and commissioning
- Apply your strong writing skills to author technical reports, white papers, and other business communications
- Utilize your creative skills to craft and layout graphics for presentations, publications and reports
- Apply your knowledge of LEED to prepare and submit LEED documentation to the USGBC
- Draw on your multi-tasking ability to support project consulting teams
Qualifications:
- A degree in mechanical engineering, building science or allied field
- A passion for green building and sustainable design
- Experience in whole building design, including technical evaluation as demonstrated by either:
-- 2 to 3 years professional experience with demonstrated progression in building system design or commissioning with an emphasis on green building, or
-- An advanced degree in engineering with a focus on green building system design or commissioning with practical experience gained through internships, fellowships, or similar on-the-job training - Strong communication skills (verbal and written) - ability to draft whitepapers, meeting notes and other written communications with minimal supervision
- Must be an idea person with strong research skills to support your hypothesis. Attention to detail is critical
- Computer proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker, and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
- Graphics, rendering, and layout skills a plus
- A sense of humor and a knack for innovation and problem solving, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented working style
