Looking for individuals to guide and oversee a Portland-based non-profit that connects youth with the environment and their community.

Company Name: Roots Ranch Eco-Camp
Skill Level: Experience working with youth, environmental education, or non-profit experience.
Position Type: Board Member

Description

Thank you for your interest in serving on the Board of Directors of Roots Ranch Eco-Camp. Roots Ranch is a Portland based non-profit organization that strives to connect youth with our natural world through outdoor recreation and hands on education, so they may become empowered leaders of an eco-responsible future.

Board members serve one year at a time with no term limit. After fulfilling the requirements of a term, Board members will be invited to be on the Stewardship Council if they do not wish to run for re-election. The Stewardship Council helps nominate and elect future Boards. We will hold quarterly Board Meetings including an annual retreat after each election. Board members are required to volunteer with our youth leaders at least once per month and will help organize at least one fundraiser per year.

The Board of Directors strategically plans the programatic agenda to fulfill the organization’s mission, which is in bold above. The Board oversees the staff, who tend the day to day work of the organization, and oversees the organization’s finances as well.

Please respond by answering the questions below along with your contact information. Go ahead, brag about yourself. The nomination and application process will be closed at the end of Friday, December 4th. We will select our Board by the end of December and host a Board Retreat, time and place TBA in accordance with everyone’s availability.
