The Communications and Membership Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating the outgoing communications of Michigan Audubon and managing the organization's member database.

Responsibilities

As managing editor of publications and online resources

  • Oversee publication of the member magazine, working with the volunteer editorial team, staff, content contributors and outside vendors
  • Oversee the monthly production of the Chapter Connection, which includes writing, compiling, editing, and distributing the PDF newsletter via email
  • Oversee the production the organization's promotional materials, including e-newsletters, brochures, event flyers, fact sheets, or informational packets for individuals, chapters, partners, general public, media, legislature (content and production supported by staff)
  • Integrate Michigan Audubon resources into emerging sources of news and information, such as social networking websites, blogs, and webcasts
  • Assist with creating copy for grant applications and other fundraising efforts

As the office coordinator of member accounts

  • Coordinate volunteer/staff assistance with data entry and mailings
  • Manage membership campaigns in coordination with larger development efforts
  • Utilize a suite of software programs that combine member data management, fundraising, accounting information
  • Collaborate with staff to strengthen bonds between the organization and its chapters, through promotion of programs and opportunities to participate in functions of the organization

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess an interest, understanding and commitment to the mission of Michigan Audubon. Outstanding communication and organization skills are required. Candidate must possess the capacity to work easily, effectively, and diplomatically with a diverse group. A Bachelor's degree is required. Computer proficiency is a must; specific knowledge of Microsoft Access, Peachtree Accounting for Non-profits, and Adobe Creative Suite are a plus. Knowledge of web-based applications such as Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, and Blogger are a plus.

Compensation
This is a full-time position with a salary in the range of $28,000 - $32,000, depending on experience.
