The Nature Conservancy seeks a GIS Manager to research, acquire, develop, spatially enable, analyze, manage and map data within a GIS (in both vector and raster format) to support various Great Lakes conservation planning efforts on local and regional projects.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain metadata and oversee distribution of spatial data. Act as principle liaison to partner organizations, government agencies and universities on GIS related matters. Oversee and track GIS data distribution to partner organizations. Provide technical, mapping and analytical support to science staff on a range of conservation projects and opportunities, utilizing GIS/GPS application, remote sensing applications, database systems, and web and scripting languages, including including ArcObjects, Python, VBA, AML, and kml.

Qualifications
Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Geography, Landscape Ecology, Natural Resources, or related conservation field, and a minimum 1 year of experience with GIS, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient in ESRI GIS applications (especially ArcGIS/ArcInfo, ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Server) and extensions such as spatial analyst and geostatistical analyst. Demonstrated experience designing, performing, interpreting, and communicating spatial analyses addressing cross-jurisdictional conservation or natural resource questions is required.
