Description

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy seeks a Public Programming Director to oversee the development and execution of ongoing and new public cultural and recreational programs for the Conservancy in its support of the growing Brooklyn Bridge Park. We are looking for a person with experience in cultural or recreational programming and event coordination, preferably with experience in parks, including the management of organizational, financial and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
• Coordinate and execute all aspects of existing seasonal public programs and special events including our annual Movies with a View film series, Waterfront Workouts, Spring Fling & Egg Hunt, and production of annual benefits
• Develop new cultural and recreational programs as budget and opportunities allow
• Supervise seasonal staff, interns, and production assistants
• Identify appropriate partners for cultural and recreational programs and maintain communication with all parties, providing regular updates and statistics
• Work with various government agencies to acquire proper permits and documentation needed for events
• Manage volunteer film committee to support our Movies with a View program and identify, recruit and schedule other volunteers for specific programs and events through Volunteer Match, social, corporate, and community groups
• Work directly with development and communications staff on outreach and corporate fundraising pertaining to public programs and on broad and cost-effective marketing strategies pertaining to public programs

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with staff and programming partners
• Ability to work well with large and diverse groups of volunteers
• Ability to work independently in a small non-profit environment
• Flexibility and willingness to work cooperatively across the organization
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Previous experience working within NYC parks preferred

Compensation
Competitive salary commensurate with experience and non-profit context.

This is a full-time position with benefits. Evenings and weekends are required at times.

The Organization:
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy is a non-profit organization that has worked for twenty years to ensure the creation, adequate funding, proper maintenance, public support, and citizen enjoyment of Brooklyn Bridge Park through partnership with the public sector, development of programming, and active promotion of the needs of the park and its constituents. Since 2000, more than half a million visitors have enjoyed the Conservancy's free, public programs in the beginnings of Brooklyn Bridge Park.
