Description

The Program Manager for the ECI program is a full-time, exempt position in EarthCorps. The Program Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of four crew leaders and oversight of 24+ 18-25 year olds corpsmembers. The position involves project coordination between EarthCorps and partner agencies/organizations; hiring, training, and supervision of crew leaders; and responsibility for crew safety, corpsmember training and education, and maintaining the objectives of EarthCorps in all endeavors. This position works Tuesday through Friday with occasional Saturdays and Mondays from 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. This position reports to the Corps Manager.

Responsibilities
Program Coordination:
-Responsible for service-learning program for crews of 18-25-year-old young adults in a structured program of service, education, and training.
-Responsible for hiring 24+ corpsmembers and four crew leaders.
-Responsible for discipline, training, crew support, and oversight of field projects.
-Schedules and coordinates education activities with the Education Coordinator.
-Plans and facilitates four multi-day overnight retreats throughout the program year.
-Plans and coordinates program calendar for the year including training and education days, field work, days off, etc.

Work Supervision:
-Ensures that EarthCorps crews complete projects as agreed upon with agency partners.
-Advises, mentors, and supervises the crew leaders who supervise corpsmembers.
-Supports leadership development of the crew leaders.
-Maintains discipline and positive crew morale, fosters team-work among crew members.
-Enforces the standards of behavior as well as policies and procedures of EarthCorps and ensures adherence to program goals and mission.
-Leads by example, working alongside corpsmembers and crew leaders.

Training and Instruction:
-Fosters and encourages quality work and interaction among corpsmembers.
-Plans and implements training and presentations in such areas as project orientation, proper use of tools, first aid, workplace safety, environmental restoration, natural resource management, leadership/management skills, and community service.

Project Implementation:
-Implements projects in conjunction with other field staff and agency partners. Projects may include invasive plant removal, native plantings, stream work, erosion control, trail maintenance/construction, and volunteer management.
-Coordinates and schedules field work projects with the other field staff and the Field Operations Director.
-Serves as on-site project manager for EarthCorps crews including establishing field work goals, ensuring safety and best management procedures, high quality of work, and materials acquisition.

Program Support:
-Performs other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor’s degree or experience in a related field.
-Demonstrated ability to complete simultaneous complex projects in a timely manner.
-Demonstrated leadership in a team setting working with staff, volunteers, agency personnel, resource user groups, and others to accomplish conservation or restoration objectives.
-Hands-on experience with field work such as wetland, riparian and upland habitat restoration.
-Ability to teach environmental restoration techniques and theory.
-Demonstrated management skills including staff supervision and development.
-Demonstrated ability to work independently in an office and field setting, maintain self-motivation and persist in the face of obstacles.
-Ability to travel regionally.
-Ability to work occasional overnight programs, including camping.
-Ability to work under physically demanding conditions, including cold and wet weather.
-Ability to walk, lift 50 pounds, and operate hand and power tools and other mechanical equipment.
-Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
-Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
-Interest in community service, environment and youth development.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Highly motivated, organized, creative, self-directed and flexible.
-Positive attitude and sense of humor.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Previous experience with a conservation corps program or related field.
-Wilderness First Responder or higher certification.
-Knowledge of Pacific Northwest flora, ecosystems, and environmental issues.
-Experience in team-building facilitation.
-Experience driving large vehicles and trucks.
