Description
The Project Developer position will be responsible for many aspects of project development with a particular focus on electrical engineering issues related to wind energy project development. He/she will be assigned multiple projects throughout the US, ensuring that these projects are completed on time and on budget. This position will also support other members of the development team with electrical issues related to project interconnection, transmission, and wind farm design. General development includes defining and pursuing land rights for wind development; assessing local, state and federal regulatory processes and pursuing approval for site development; assessing utility requirements for renewable energy procurement; serving as project representative with partners and vendors and proposal preparation and presentation to internal and external audiences.
OwnEnergy is seeking a Project Developer/Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of experience in at least one of the following areas: wind energy project development, power & transmission markets, or engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation and good basic skills that will be further enhanced by working under the direction of senior developers. Must be professional with excellent project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide Electrical Engineering and transmission/interconnection expertise to OwnEnergy
- Support developers with existing mid to late stage projects
- Build strong relationships with partners, vendors, consultants and other industry leaders
- Assess all local, state and federal regulatory processes and pursue approval for site development
- Serve as a project representative to interested stakeholder
- Identify and communicate project risks and develop mitigates
- Manage project budget and communicate variances during the projects
- Identify, characterize and secure new development opportunities
- Negotiate, define and establish partnerships with landowners
Qualifications
- Ability to live and work in New York City
- 2+ years in either energy project development or power & transmission markets.
- Experience with an Independent Power Producer, wind turbine manufacturer, or engineering or construction firm that works with the power sector is preferred
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering
- Excellent oral, written and presentations skills
- Ability to operate at an extremely detailed level in a high intensity environment
