A stylish, compact, and durable reusable bag that will actually be used!

The Acme Workhorse 1500 is the solution for those who are resistant--or just forgetful--when it comes to regularly using bulky canvas bags. First, the Acme 1500 is extremely durable. It's made of high quality rip-stop nylon and holds 25 pounds of stuff. Its handles have double the fabric for comfort in carrying. Even better, it's so incredibly compact (1.5 ounces in a 2x3 pouch) that it can be easily stuffed into a purse, backpack, or even back pocket (!) for those unexpected errands. This is great for my husband who doesn't have room in his overstuffed backpack for an enormous canvas sack just in case he goes shopping. I got both the Acme and a Chico Bag in order to compare them, and, as soon as I opened them, I decided to keep both of the Acme 1500s and give the Chicos as gifts. While the Acme Workhorse does lack some of the pizzazz of the Chico, the Acme is a clear winner due to the quality and durability. Thanks to Acme, I am hoping to reduce my plastic bag use to zero!

Review of ChicoBag

Some nice features, but spend a few bucks more on the Acme Workhorse

I'll start with the positives about Chico Bags. They are a great design---an 18X15 nylon bag that folds into an extremely compact integrated pouch. They're inexpensive. (If you order 4, they cost less than $5 for a bag that you can use again and again!) They have a nifty drawstring closure with a plastic toggle as well as a carbiner clip to hook the bag onto your backpack or purse. They come in nice, earthy colors. But, if you've been using canvas sacks for a while, you might want to spend a bit more money on the Acme Workhorse. I got both both in order to compare them, and, as soon as I opened them, I decided to keep both of the Acme 1500s and give the Chicos as gifts. The Acme Workhorse does lack some of the pizzazz of the Chico (no toggle, no caribiner) but the quality of the rip-stop nylon, the comfort handles, and the durability of the bag more than make up for it. Chico Bags are good, but the Acme 1500 is GREAT so buy your own caribiner clip and go for the real deal.

I've noticed all posts from Angela F. have major put-downs about ChicoBag and she seems like she's trying to sell the Acme 1500. Is she a shopper or are is she paid by Acme to put down ChicoBags? Does she even really... more »

I wrote these two reviews because, in May 2007, I was unable to find any online comparison between these very similar products. That's why I ended up buying both from an online store. Given the open nature of... more »

Whoa Harland M., I thought the point of reviews was to get both sides of the story. I appreciate Angela's comparison because I have been looking to an alternative to Chico bags. I have bought a few and the seams on all... more »

The Workhorse of any Cloth Diapering System

When I was pregnant, I went a little cloth diaper crazy with all of the new, innovative brands that are available on the internet. Don't get me wrong...I love the new All-in-Ones (AIO) and Pocket diapers with their hemp doublers and organic fleece linings. But, as a cloth diapering veteran of 18 months, you can't do better than a large "stash" of chinese prefolds, some snappis, and some easy-to-use covers. Go green by choosing organic, washing them at home, and using wool soakers. I do still have some fancy diapers, like my beloved bumGenius, but I save them for trips, babysitters, and special occasions. CPF's are truly the workhorse of my CD stash!
