I feel it is important to REUSE bags you get at conventions, trade shows, car shows, etc. In a sustainable world, we buy less product and therefore manufacture less product, creating less pollution and using less of our non-renewable resources.
The reusable bags for purchases are great, but we now need some type of very lightweight bag for produce at grocery stores - so we don't use the plastic/paper produce bags. (the weight of a canvas bag is too heavy to weigh the produce). (any ideas?)
AND, a side note - the new self check outs at stores are NOT set up for canvas bags, only for plastic. In fact, they don't work with your own bags. You have to get a store staff person to override the system. AND, 9 times out of 10, I get an attitude from my "check out person" when I ask them to bag into my bags and not into the traditional plastic or paper.
So I'm not reviewing a new product, but an old one - those reusable bags I gather from those that MUST have giveaways at their events are a very good, sustainable product!
So, let's all keep on trying until we accomplish the no plastic or paper bag goal!!

My daughter took us to Maggie Mudd last month and while I'm not an ice cream "freak", I did especially love the vegan coconut milk "ice cream". I tasted the chocolate peanut butter too and it was awesome. My husband thought it a tad too sweet but everyone else gave it two sticky thumbs up and I've recommended Maggie Mudd to all of my "people".

The grapefruit and honey "flavor" is wonderful. I've used it for over a year and it feels good, stays on, smells good and keeps my lips from being chapped. It's clear so no worries about applying it without a mirror :) It's inexpensive and I found it at Long's in the natural beauty products aisle.

We use Ecos to wash our kitchen towels, linens, chef coats - all which are very very grungy at times! It cleans everything beautifully and smells so fresh. And, we found it at Costco - it was priced right!

Blue Heron Catering uses organic, locally produced foods for all of our menus. We are officially certified as a green business! We catered Barack Obama's book signing at the Marin Civic Center last year - 100% organic, 100% compostable box lunches for 1200 guests! It was a zero waste event! We are celebrating our 20th year in business in 2008. I gave my company 5 stars because we consistently receive rave reviews about our food and service!

We use these non-alcoholic sodas at our corporate events and weddings and people absolutely love them. The taste is so refreshing and it is a non-cola option for those who don't drink alcohol.

World Centric is an awesome organization that not only provides Sugar Cane Fiber and Corn/Potato Starch plates, bowls, trash bags, containers, but also provides education regarding their efforts to reduce environmental degradation. My orders came in very promptly (2 days) and complete and when I had an emergency order on a weekend, they sent that out on time also. This was my first experience with biocompostables and it was very positive.

Great observation, Debbie -- I've had the same problem with self-checkout at Home Depot! Sadly, I'm noticing a trend at conferences away from quality, long lasting canvas tote bags and toward those horrible "Made in... more »
