Review of Rainbow Grocery

5 star rating Review of Rainbow Grocery May 31, 2007 | Posted in San Francisco, Food & Grocery

Rainbow Grocery This is my new neighborhood grocery store, and boy did I luck out.

I was scared at first because I had been warned off by those who think it is too pricey (I get the feeling they weren't exactly interested in the organic-ness of the products, which are cheap when compared to Whole Foods) but I...

Review of Venus Restaurant

3 star rating Review of Venus Restaurant May 31, 2007 | Posted in Berkeley, Restaurants

Good food, bad service. Venus is definitely a gem if you are looking for a nice organic dinner in downtown Berkeley. The food is delicious and the drink selection is well-rounded. The food is five star quality and relentlessly organic and local (yay!)

The reason it did not get five stars, however, is because our...

Review of farmerbrown

4 star rating Review of farmerbrown May 31, 2007 | Posted in San Francisco, Restaurants

Go for the food, get there early! Having heard/read all the hype, I decided this would be the perfect place to go for a company happy hour. We show up and the bar is already full- so I ask about getting a table.
Basically, they seated us in the cocktail lounge/waiting area, but gave us the curfew of 7:30pm to be out of there for...

Review of Cafe Gratitude

4 star rating Review of Cafe Gratitude May 31, 2007 | Posted in San Francisco, Restaurants

Cafe Gratitude Oh Cafe Gratitude. Luckily, I am not allergic to nuts so I can enjoy the fabulously nut-laden treats they conjure up here. The vibe at Cafe Gratitude is great, unless you are looking to quietly study and/or sulk in a post-modern artistic fashion- you'll probably be asked "How are you courageous...

Review of Le Colonial

4 star rating Review of Le Colonial May 31, 2007 | Posted in San Francisco, Restaurants

Le Colonial Yum! This restaurant was well worth the chunk of change it costs. All of the food was superb, from the appetizers of scallop pot stickers to the stuffed tofu and sturgeon lettuce wraps...I was in colonial Vietnamese heaven. Definitely more rich and french-influenced than traditional Vietnamese...

Review of Lula Cafe

5 star rating Review of Lula Cafe May 31, 2007 | Posted in Chicago, Restaurants

Lovin' Lula From the outside this place looks like any run-of-the-mill organic cafe, but on the inside is an adorable fine-dining experience, with a great menu of organic, local items.

I had the artichoke meyer lemon soup and then the stinging nettle farro for dinner. I tasted the peanut butter satay noodle...

Review of B Restaurant & Bar

5 star rating Review of B Restaurant & Bar May 31, 2007 | Posted in San Francisco, Restaurants

B Happy Hour The location is unfortunate for such a great place. Its not that easy to find and is out of the way for many after-work happy hour seekers. Luckily, we are an industrious bunch in search of organic drinks and snacks, so we climbed the stairs in YB Gardens to this little oasis.

B has $5 organic...

Review of The Slanted Door

5 star rating Review of The Slanted Door May 31, 2007 | Posted in San Francisco, Restaurants

Fresh, local Vietnamese Out the Door has great one-dish Vietnamese meals for a reasonable price. Considering you are getting Slanted Door organic, local ingredients, it is a really great deal.

I love to grab a vermicelli bowl and sit out on the Pier watching the sailboats and seagulls on the bay.

Definitely grab a...

Review of Xocolatl by Dagoba Organic Chocolate

5 star rating Review of Xocolatl May 31, 2007 | Posted in Tasty Drinks

Sweet and Spicy I am a chocoholic. As such, I love hot chocolate. When I first tried Dagoba's Xoclatl, I was in heaven. As if the spices and that nice chili kick weren't enough, there are chunks of bitter chocolate that get sort of half-melty and float on the top of your drink. Yum!
