SF Green Festival Evolving
At this fifth year of the Green Festival in San Francisco, I see positive changes and continuing challenges. What has greatly improved over two years ago (when it had become too crowded to enjoy) is space and traffic flow in the food area. It's still too crowded and crazy there for me to bother waiting for what looks and smells like great food, so I'm certain vendors loose out from many people passing on the hassle.
Bathroom lines continue to be intolerable, but this year I found portables outside near the tents. Little wait. Otherwise, I would have just left earlier than planned.
Another ongoing frustration, although less than in the past, is that exhibitors are often so caught up in connecting with each other that they don't pay much attention to us who stop to learn about them. Further, many exhibitors' attendants do not seem to reach out with much interest to us. Just inexperienced, I guess.
The second greatest interpersonal frustration for me is how rude and aggressive attendees are. This does not align with my sense of what a more conscious approach to living harmoniously in the world is all about. Show some patience and courtesy, folks.
Would any of this prevent me from coming again? If it continues to grow beyond the logistic capacities of this venue, I think there are already enough options for me to connect with "green" product and service providers in the area and avoid the stress. For now, I still look forward all year to getting this boost of connecting to people who are making positive change in the world.
