I love this light bulb. It's instantly starts, it's bright and doesn't look like the coil lights.
Many people have purchased the subsidized or discounted CFLs from a local retailer (grocery store, Rite Aid, Home Depot etc.) and have been disappointed. I suggest you take another look at compact fluorescent lighting because quality makes a huge difference. It's kind of like Tai food... it's either great or it's not... there's no in between. CFL technology has improved tremendously in the last two years. No longer do you need to wait 5 minutes for the bulb to warm up for full brightness. You can now purchase dimmable bulbs and full spectrum lighting hues. If you don't like the look of the klunky spring lamp then purchase an A-Lamp which provides the benefits of the spring lamp inside a bulb making it indistinguishable from a traditional incandescent light bulb. Any incandescent light bulb that you can buy now has a CFL version including floods, globes and more.
CFL bulbs last up to ten times longer than incandescent bulbs and use 75% less energy. Today's CFLs offer the same light quality, use less energy and cost less to light. Because they use less energy, they cause far less carbon dioxide (greenhouse gasses) to be released into the atmosphere. It's a feel good - look good product.
