Not entirely sustainable While it's great that the handle is made from natural cellulose, the case is made from virgin plastic. The company claims that it is recyclable, but since most areas will not accept a case like that for recycling, for practical purposes it is not recyclable. Just because an item has a recycling...

Trader Joe's is a packaging nightmare! Yeah, they have awesome food. But they are a plastic packaging nightmare. It's almost impossible to find anything at Trader Joe's that's not packaged in plastic. They will tell you that they use biodegradable PLA, but first of all, PLA is not technically biodegradable, and second of all, TJ's only...

Everything about this soap is sustainable! We are now using Dr. Bronner's unscented baby soap for washing just about everything: dishes, laundry, household cleaning. The bottles are made from 100% post-consumer plastic and can be refilled. The ingredients are all natural. And now, all the major ingredients come from fair trade sources.

Makes we want to move back to San Francisco Every time I go into Rainbow Grocery, I wish I lived in San Francisco again. It is a wonder of fresh, organic produce, natural foods and body care products, and sustainable household products. But the best thing about Rainbow are the bulk bins. They carry over 800 bulk items: herbs, teas, spices...

Plastic does not belong in the garbage! We're not doing damage to the earth by throwing away recycled plastic bags because... come again??? People, we're still putting plastic in landfills! We're still throwing away plastic that could be used for other purposes. Trash bags are the WORST use of plastic, either virgin or recycled, because...

Not crazy for virgin nylon It's a great idea to purchase reusable bags to take to the store. It's not so great to purchase bags made from virgin petroleum-based synthetics.
It would be better to reuse plastic grocery bags that you already have than to purchase bags made of new synthetic materials. Plastic grocery bags...

I LOVE my Klean Kanteen! This is one of my favorite purchases ever! Yeah, it's a little bit heavier than a plastic bottle, but big deal. So I'll get a little bit stronger carrying it.
Also, all the cool kids have them. :-) When I see someone walking down the street with a Klean Kanteen, I feel all warm and fuzzy...

And it keeps my underwear smelling nice! This deodorant stick is awesome. It's just a solid chunk of deodorant wrapped in paper. Lush recommends keeping it dry and using it on dry underarms for best results, so instead of storing it in the bathroom, I keep it in my underwear drawer, where it does double duty as a sachet. Smells great...
