Review of Syrah 2006 by Frey vineyards

4 star rating Review of Syrah 2006 June 20, 2007 | Posted in Beer, Wine & Spirits

Hurrah for syrah Of the three Frey wines I've tried, hats off to the Syrah. It's velvety and has a nice round bouquet.

The length begins with a big, velvety fruitiness and ends with blueberry.

Review of Mango Acai White Tea by Honest Tea

3 star rating Review of Mango Acai White Tea June 20, 2007 | Posted in Tasty Drinks

mango my acai? Yo, this is good tea! And it's only got a few grams of organic sugar in it, as opposed to several dozen, which is typical of most crappy junk drinks. Did I say crappy junk drinks?

Anyway, this Honest Tea is a mixture of acai and white tea, which is the young version of your green tea, contains...

Review of EarthWise File Folders by Pendaflex

4 star rating Review of EarthWise File Folders June 19, 2007 | Posted in Home Office

Earthwise file folders These colored file folders are made from 100% recycled fibers, and have a lot of post-consumer waste in them as well.

These guys are doing the right thing (I'm sure it's good for their business as well), and you should get their product for your office or home. Address the twin issues of...

Review of Rainforest Blend by The Organic Coffee Co.

4 star rating Review of Rainforest Blend June 15, 2007 | Posted in Tasty Drinks

Organic Coffee Co. There's a little cafe near where I work called the Organic Coffee Co., and they have this really good coffee called The Rainforest Blend.

They're part of the Roger's Family company, which is out of San Leandro, Ca., apparently, as it reads on the label. And they have their own fair trade...

Review of Annie's Macaroni and Cheese by Annie's Homegrown

3 star rating Review of Annie's Macaroni and Cheese June 15, 2007 | Posted in Food & Grocery

good mac snack Every once in a blue moon (funny that's it's blue moon in June as I write this) I'll make some Annie's mac and cheese, the white cheddar kind.

The other day I melted in some sharp white cheddar as well. Highly recommended. Not a nutritious snack, but kids love it (and you know how they can be...

Review of Sangiovese 2004 by Frey vineyards

2 star rating Review of Sangiovese 2004 June 15, 2007 | Posted in Beer, Wine & Spirits

nice velvety organic Sangiovese Of the three Frey wines I've tried, the Sangiovese wasn't that good. Decent, but nothing to write home about.

Now the Syrah on the hand, well, that's another matter entirely.

Review of Bittersweet Dark Chocolate with Soft Mint Center by Green & Black's

4 star rating Review of Bittersweet Dark Chocolate with Soft Mint Center June 15, 2007 | Posted in Food & Grocery

minty gooiness Yeah, so these delectable chocolate bars have a gooey minty inside that's high-end mint. Combine that with killer dark chocolate and you've got yourself something nice to gnaw on.

Review of Unbleached All-Purpose Flour by King Arthur Flour

3 star rating Review of Unbleached All-Purpose Flour June 10, 2007 | Posted in Food & Grocery

a good baking stand-by My wife used this flour to make pizza crust the other night, after I picked a bag of it up at my local natural foods store. It's natural and unbleached, though not organic. But it made a really nice pizza crust. It's fairly hearty. This company is employee-owned, which is cool, and they've been...

Review of Trader Joe's

2 star rating Review of Trader Joe's June 7, 2007 | Posted in Food & Grocery

TJ's isn't as green as you think I'd like to clear one thing up about TJ's, something I recently learned. The low price you pay at TJ's is due in part to the fact that TJ's lowballs its vendors by fostering competition among them and driving down the price of their goods, which in turns drives down the quality because the vendors...

Review of Organic Half & Half by Horizon Organic

2 star rating Review of Organic Half & Half 1 comment | May 31, 2007 | Posted in Food & Grocery

cows that don't really have access to pasture On paper, it looks really good that Horizon cows have "access to pasture" but the truth is that almost all of them don't even know how to leave and access the pasture. So they stay penned up, feeding upon high-calorie grains and not getting out and getting any exercise. Horizon has come under some...
