Review of The SunRise

Simple but effective

Solar Attic Fans are an overlooked, but simple way to reduce the cost of cooling your home, and to reduce your carbon footprint. By simply removing the excess heat from your attic, your AC system will not have to work as hard to keep your house cool. Since it is solar powered, it uses no energy, which is a win-win for you. The prices quoted on the Mfg website seem on the high side, so it will pay to shop around. There are also Gable mount Solar Attic Fans, for those of us who don't like to put holes in our roofs, and have a gable. Here is an place to go to compare, http://yourgreenamerica.com/id126.html.

Not So Fast

The concept is a good one, but the reality is that CitizenRe has not come close to delivering on their promises. You do have to pay a deposit upfront, as thousands have done so already. Those people would have been better off putting their money in the bank, because CitizenRe has yet to even build their factory, They have been promising to do so for 2 years, with no progress in sight. They claim to have the financing in place, so what is the hold up? They refuse to divulge the source of this financing. They may well be legit, just do your homework before giving them your money.

Review of Wind Turbine

Best Residential Wind Turbine Yet

The Southwest Windpower Skystream 3.7 Wind Turbine is the latest in Residential Wind Power. It is specifically designed for Grid-Tie applications, which means that you could potentially sell excess electricity back to the electric company.

The Skystream 3.7 is a self-contained powerhouse, with all of the control circuitry built right in. All you have to do is find a nice clearing to put it in, mount it high enough to clear all nearby obstructions, hook it up, and you will be immediately generating free electricity. This can be done over a weekend with a couple of buddies.

Don't get me wrong, this thing is big, and it is heavy, but with a pick-up truck and the proper hardware for your tower, you will never have to climb a ladder or rent a cherry picker to raise it into the air.

Once up, it will generate enough electricity for a small family. Otherwise, it will go a long way toward reducing your electric bill.
