Girlie Girl tips for Green living
If you love daily candy then you will love Green Girl Guide. Shopping tips and tidbits for the green conscious girlie girl. It has just started out so archives are small. GGG is a free newsletter and a blog. When you get your email it has 3 categories, fashion (of course), lifestyle, and beauty. I love to find out about eco friendly clothing, even with the higher cost. I can't wait to get a bamboo blouse they wrote about. Anyway, each section is just the first ¼ of the entry, you have to click a link to get to the rest of the info, and i usually do. Check it out if you want to make a change.

N:Vision Light Bulbs
After reading the green version of Domino magazine I went out to get my CFLs. They had a entire page devoted to all types of cfl lightbulbs. Domino magazine is about shopping for home decorating, like Lucky magazine. Cfls are compact fluorescent lightbulbs. They use less energy than a regular lightbulb and they last for about nine years. Of course they are not cheap. But it is the right thing to do & it will save money in long run. So it really is an affordable way to help the environment. I bought 7 lightbulbs for my apartment. I got one for free when I went to Home Depot's Earth Day giveaway. I spent about $30.00 total. I got my power bill and I looked right away to see if there is a difference. My bill is only $10 a month & it seems the same now. My apartment is small, so maybe that is why. I bought several types, & different brightnesses. Some come on dim and getting brighter in 30 secs. i like that in my bathroom. more to this review at kimdarker.typepad.com

Bring Your Own Bag
I bought one of those reusable bags at trader joe's almost a year ago. When i remembered to grab it out of my car in the parking lot, it was great. I didn't have to worry about what i was going to do with another plastic bag. I wouldn't have make another trip to take my collection of plastic bags to get recycled. I started to use it at other places too: koo koo roo, whole foods, famima any place where i would buy something and bring it home. Problem was i didn't always remember to grab the bag first. So i still ended up with a collection of plastic bags. A conversation with one of my Pilates clients about remembering carryall bags led to her informing me that the Container Store in Century City sells nylon bags folded up into a little pouch. Great ! I was very excited. I was even happier when i went to the store and found them attached to a key chain like hook. This meant i could actually clip it on to my purse. Reisenthel makes these.Come in several colors-I got the black.

fun way to get around in LA
I got an electric scooter about a month ago. i haven't seen anyone else with one yet. hopefully that will change.
i didn't want to have to pedal all the time on a bike so i got an electric scooter, it looks like a bicycle, kinda.
one of my pilates clients said that it didn't look like anything he'd seen before. it is cute, a little european looking, the wheels are smaller than a bicycles but the frame is completely different. it has a deck to rest your feet on. i got it with a front basket (i carry my heavy bike lock in it) and 2 rear baskets that are collapsible. i got intentionally for doing errands, going to the beach, getting appointments etc. since i moved closer to where i work i have a small radius of where i drive to , but now i can scoot to.
i never use all of the charge each day. it can go about 20 miles on a charge. charges 80 % in 3 hours and 6 hours 100%.
