First: Vitamin K, also increases the bodies ability to cause blood clotting. Just knew you were dying to get this little piece of info. LOL.

Great idea but, Wait a second!!!
I loved this report about Back Yard Chickens, and it brought back many happy memories. However, for those who are thinking of raising a few Chickens in their own yards, there are several important considerations.
You may love your Chickens, and enjoy watching them running around, pecking at seeds and bugs, but unless they are protected at night, the Raccoons, Foxes, Dogs, and even Rats, will also enjoy them. These predators WILL find your flock.
In addition, Chickens will do a great job of ridding bugs from your gardens, but will, occasionally, try a tomato for a variety in their diets.
They will run, walk, and fly, all over your land, and this includes enjoying trips out by the road, if you live near one. Some Chickens grow rather large, but they are no match for a car, or truck.
Some towns prohibit livestock in certain zones. CHECK FIRST!
Make sure you get only females, such as Black Sex-links. Roosters are cute, but don't lay eggs, and neighbors can get angry.
