Waiting for solar

I learned about the REnU concept about a year ago, and was excited by the idea. I can't afford to privately purchase solar panels at current prices, so 'renting solar' appealed to me. I signed a "Forward Rental Agreement", locking in my current electric rate for 25 years. When/If the solar panels start rolling off the lines at the factory (which hasn't been built yet), my system is reserved.

I even became an "ecopreneur", an independent agent who can sign up other folks who want to reserve a system. That's the "multilevel marketing" part. There might even be some $ involved at a later date, in the form of a bonus for each system and a percentage off my own bill. But money isn't my motivation. Clean, renewable energy is.

And the company has been upfront about being a work in progress. Admittedly, I expected to see more progress in the past year, but there may be a lot going on that I am not aware of. I respect their desire to keep their plans to themselves, and it doesn't cost me (or anyone else who has signed up) a single cent. NO payments of any kind until the system is ready for installation. (Whenever that may be...)

If something changes, and I decide to buy my own solar power system, I can. If the Citizenre folks pull this off, I'll be on the list (at a very low number!) and ready to pay for clean, renewable electricity, and at a rate equal to or less than what I pay the electic company right now.

My biggest concern is the carbon footprint that the system will cost. They aren't addressing this point at all, and probably can't until they get into production.

I give them 3 stars for a great idea. If they manage to keep the carbon cost low, they get the 4th star. They can have the 5th star as soon as I get my system installed.
