Stellar, sustainable meal

Huge fans of the sustainable food revolution spearheaded by executive chef and food advocate extraordinaire Alice Waters, my boyfriend and I went here for our first anniversary dinner. We were blown away by the gorgeous presentations and standalone quality and taste of each dish. They started us with a tuna carpaccio with beets and cornichons in a mustard sauce, which was amazing. Next dish in the lineup was a sweet corn soup with chanterelles - wow! Corn never tasted so good. Our main course was lamb with white beans and candied fennel, which was a complete delight to the tastebuds. And we ended with homemade strawberry ice cream with all sorts of yummy accoutrements. All in all, the intimate, romantic atmosphere and superb meal left us beaming from the inside out. A perfect destination for a special occasion or anytime you feel like treating yourself and loved ones to the wonders of sustainable, local food!

Review of Ice Cream

Vanilla bean divine

Vanilla bean ice cream is so much better than plain old vanilla. The beans in this cream really give it some depth, integrity, and most of all an incredibly yummy flavor. It's soooooo over the top. The perfect vanilla!

Review of Peach Pie

you have got to be kidding me!

Wow, this pie gives my grandma's peach pie a run for its money. I love the wheat crust and perfectly ripe peaches, but above all I can't believe it's vegan. I think I could eat five.

drink up, my sweet!

I am really stoked on discovering blue agave nectar. It has a low glycemic index and sweetens naturally without spiking blood sugar. Perfect for diabetics or anyone who is sensitive to blood sugar fluctuations. It's sort of like honey but is less dense and less messy. The raw version is definitely a sweeter version of the regular version. Tastes great! Review of yoga loft

Studio B is where it's at!

I love practicing at the Yoga Loft - it always smells good and the vibe is lovely. Studio B is beautiful - high ceilings and gets tons of natural light, it's always a pleasure doing yoga in there. They have plenty of props so that you can do more advanced postures and inversions from the wall. I have always been impressed by the quality of their instructors and have always felt welcomed both by the people that work there, as well as my fellow classmates.

is this rubbing alcohol, or wine?

Don't buy this bottle...just don't. It was super dry from start to finish and left a horrible aftertaste.

fruity effervesence!

To each his own palate... Unlike the other reviewer, I thought this wine was delightful. Granted, it's not a fifty dollar bottle of wine, but for what it was, it was great. Lots of melon and citrus, and the flavor seemed to burst inside my mouth from some hidden effervescent source. I would definitely buy this bottle again.

Review of Our Daily Red

once you get past the nose...

...the wine's not half bad. not great, but not terrible. The nose reminds me of wet socks (no joke) but it ends up jammy and berrylicious on the palate. It reminds me of the wine that I used to drink in college when we were having dinner parties and wanted to do something a marginal step above the norm. I would suggest this wine as the second or third bottle to be served - don't lead with this, or you (and your guests) might be sorry.

Review of ChicoBag

I no longer have the "i forgot my bag" excuse

When I first started bringing cloth bags to the grocery store, I used to get frustrated because I often forgot. However, the Chico Bag is great because it bunches up super tiny and is really convenient to bring with you everywhere! Other reviewers seem to be bummed that these bags cost $5 but if you add up the extra money that stores charge nowadays for plastic bags, you'll realize a return on your investment in no time. I also think it looks pretty spiffy, I like the brown/blue lettering combo.

can't wait to cleanse again

Preface: it is going to be hard for me not to be gross when commenting upon the Master Cleanse, because the gross parts were the best parts. From the morning saltwater cleanse to the evening laxative tea and the multitude of cayenne lemonade in between, it was an amazing experience. I felt so energized in the mornings because my body wasn't spending the whole evening prior digesting dinner. It was a refreshing concept. Over the course of those ten days, I cried over a cookie and dreamed about burritos more than once...but made it through. And if I can do it, anyone else out there can do it. In fact, I recommend it, as it was frankly amazing how much stuff was coming out when there was really nothing going in!! The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because it was HARD to go without food for 10 days, plus I had bad intestinal cramping a couple days. Check out the URL above for more information from Stanley Burroughs, the brain where it all began. Drink up kids!
