yogurt for a new day
I have never liked yogurt. Something about the consistency of it make me gag. It just never hit me right.
I realize that yogurt is good for you--it's got all sorts of great stuff in it to keep a system clean and healthy. So, I decided to make myself like it (kind of like I did with pickles...long story). I started eating it--shopping around for my kind of yogurt.
I went through the basics--the gnarly yogurts I loved to hate. Then I found stonyfield farms yogurt--real fruit in the bottom, not loaded with preservatives, nonfat with taste. I love it. I love it. I eat it with my lunches. It's just amazing and I've turned many over to the good side of the yogurt universe. This stuff really is good.

ice cream with a twist
I've always had a rough time explaining to people that I'm not vegetarian, but I eat like one. I love tofu. I love tempeh. I love a plain veggie stir fry.
I eat ice cream. However, I eat non-dairy ice cream too. Why not? Having worked in a natural food store, I spent many an hour with some very intense vegans--but, surely they did like their tofutti. And, so I tried--tofutti cuties. The greatest l'il "ice cream" sandwich I ever did eat.
Since then, I've passed on the word to some good friends who don't get along with the dairy so much--they've sorely missed their tasty frozen treats, and this has given a new breath of life.
Tofutti cuties are THE BEST. Just make sure you freeze them really well because they never taste as cold or icy as the cream based. But, they sure are tasty.

just like from the farm
I take my grandmother on weekly grocery trips. We drive there together and then separate while we shop. This past week, when we arrived back at her house, she realized that she forgot to get her creamer. Since my groceries were in the car, I gave her the creamer I had bought--Organic Valley Half & Half. No problem to me--trip to the co-op to replenish my stock. The next time I saw my grandmother, she was a total firecracker, going on and on about the creamer. "Tastes just like what we had on the farm--I forgot how good a cup of coffee can taste!" Now it's all she'll use. Dairy without insult. Really incredible stuff.
