My non-green guilty pleasure
Where do I start?
It is nice to know that AA does pay above the minimum wage, but they have been known to constantly union bust and there have been allegations of sexual harassment.

I find that you can get pretty healthy items here. But it is expensive and I can get better food for less at other places like Rainbow. Also, while there are plenty of organic items here, I don't see that it necessarily translates to sustainable because it could come from another continent.
But the way, how did coops get into the Keywords for this store. It isn't a coop.

I have been a vegetarian for two years and often going to a regular restaurant often means that you only have a couple of choices, and you hope that those choices are good ones. Herbivore gives many choices and it's pleasant to be around people who are also vegetarians.

City CarShare is a must. They are great for being able to get errands done and usually you can get a car in a pinch.
Also, unlike other car share programs, City CareShare is non-profit, and reflects community needs better than for profit programs.
One thing that often gets overlooked about owning cars is that manufacturing cars take an enormous amount of energy, so if people use a car share program, instead of owning, you can save what is left with the ozone layer.

I do enjoy going to whole foods occasionally. But there are a few things that I think need to be pointed out.
There food is not always locally grown, and locally grown food is essential if you wish to try to eat as sustainable as possible, even more so than buying organic.
There also has been some concern that they haven't been posting warnings about mercury that could be in their sea food.
They do have labour issues, but I will just mention that they carry only a limited amount of Fair Trade products.
There is also very limited transparancys about GMO's. In fact, much of their food isn't organic.
Much of their foods will also show ingredients, but no information on nutrition.
I won't say don't shop there if you haven't been already, But I wouldn't use it as a place to do all of my shopping.

I use this to clean my toilet. It does help to use a little elbow grease, but in the end, this is very well worth it.

I am at a total loss at why anybody concerned with sustainability would generously give 5 stars. This is a product that I would use as a last result. could it be that the company has somebody is plugging their product hoping that somebody who uses sustainlane is gullible?

I shop at Rainbow, because it reflects my values. Unlike Safeway which only cares about making a profit for its shareholders: Rainbow workers are the shareholders, so they know that they are working in a community to help a community.
They have a huge bulk section, and have pleny of organic veggies. I am also a vegetarian, so it's easy for me to shop and not accidentally buy something that has meat.
I also like that everybody, both worker and customers share the same values. You would be hard pressed to find a pro war Republican here.
