A jet powered skateboard (with the Mr. Fusion fuel source that they use in Back to the Future II)

How we'll get around in 20 years...

People won't. They will sit at home, rent movies on demand, order in food, and become 100% sedentary (apologies for the cynicism)

My non-green guilty pleasure

My Infiniti G35 (not an SUV, but 310 horsepower doesn't get good gas mileage)

The Greatest Family Album that I Know

I completely agree with the review written on the myspace page:

"The songs on the album are intended to be sweet and playful yet insightful and thoughtful. Written in true to form Ellis Paul style of compelling and witty story telling; each song will bring both parents and children into a picture that Ellis paints with each lyric ...The songs and artwork are clearly meant to be enjoyed by children as well as adults and promises to be a significant addition to the genre of family music."

I bought the album even though I am twenty and have no children. I put it onto my itunes and don't listen to it that often by myself, but I gave my copy to my two-year-old cousin and I always listen to it with him. It is really fun. The music is genuinely great folk, with upbeat and original acoustic guitar and all sorts of arrays of harmonies. As can be expected from Ellis Paul - one of the greatest singer-songwriters still going strong - the lyrics are truly insightful and inspiring, great for kids and even stimulating for adults.

so much better for our children and our future than some of the other crap children's entertainment out there that is a product of corporations and really just a way to advertise to a specific group of consumers. more »

Wow - you bought the album and you don't even have kids? I'm impressed! It's so hard to find nice music that you can share with kids -- I'll check out the URL. more »

Tingling Goodness

This soap is great, it's awesome, it's amazing! The tingling sensation is unique. The only downside to this soap is that it doesn't moisturize. If you don't have dry skin or brittle hair then Dr. Brommer's soap will be your miracle. I use it as body wash when I am home in California, but need a bodywash with moisture when I am at school in Colorado (a dry desert). I stopped using it as shampoo because I found it left my hair a little dry. Besides it's lack of moisture (which I'm sure is one of the reasons that it is so environmentally friendly) the soap smells great and gives you that awesome tingly feeling all over and in special places. I really like it because I take hot showers and when I get out of the shower it is like a cool breeze is hanging all over my body. Honestly, when I don't use Dr. Brommer's soap I feel hot for a half hour after I take a shower; I'll get into a car and turn the air all the way up while everybody else screams at me because they are freezing. When I use Brommer's, I don't have this problem.

Review of Fat Tire

Not my favorite flavor, but my favorite brand

The New Belgium beers are amazing! Fat Tire tastes great but I think it falls short of its hype. Fat Tire is one of the few flavors of New Belgium beers that can now be found in most liquor stores or even supermarkets around the country, but I prefer some of the flavors that are harder to find. In Boulder, Colorado you can find all of the flavors pretty much everywhere since New Belgium brews in Fort Collins, Colorado. If you can find some of the other flavors in one of those eclectic liquor stores or ?Trader Joe's? then take my advice and sample them. My favorites are the summer and winter seasonal's: Skinny Dip and 2 Below. Blue Paddle is their pilsner and is also delicious. So go search for these beers or come to Colorado. I don't know anything about how environmentally friendly New Belgium beer is, I have heard good things, but I can tell you that New Belgium has spoiled my taste buds. I haven't had a Coors in months.

Review of 5 Hour Energy

An excellent proudct

The 5 Hour Energy Shot does everything it advertises. I have used it many times, mostly for roadtrips. You really don't feel energized as much as you do alert and free from any signs of drowsiness. I don't believe that the product has any uncomfortable side effects, but I do believe that taking this shot when you are truly exhausted leads to an unpleasant experience. After a night a drinking, a day of snowboarding, and a long drive back from the mountains, I took my second 5 Hour Energy Shot of the day so that I could continue my boisterous birthday celebration. I was so physically drained that I could have slept through just about anything, but not a 5 Hour Energy Shot. Fifteen minutes after taking the shot, my incessant yawning stopped and my drooping eyelids lost their weight. However, my body entered into a battle with itself and my mind, unable to decide whether I was depleted or rejuvenated. It is a surreal feeling to be so utterly tired and yet so alert; I did not find it overly enjoyable.

I recommend the 5 Hour Energy Shot as boost for some extra productivity or as a safety precaution when driving long or strenuous roads; it is excellent for immediate and long lasting attentiveness. I advise against using the 5 Hour Energy Shot for extended stretches of debauchery or re-animation.

Wow! A lot of Stuff to take in at once, but done well.

The video is really great. Most of what Annie Dillard talks about are ideas that I knew of as vague theories. The video has shocking statistics, specific examples, and images that make the information comprehensible and memorable. The images also offer a much needed touch of humor throughout the video as the viewer is subjected to some disgusting truths and dire forecasts about the workings and consequences of our consumer society. Dillard's optimism at the end of the film is also a relief, when she tells us that there are big forces out there making substantial progress in fixing the destructive system. The knowledge that people are making a difference is uplifting, and Dillard makes it clear that soon reducing the debilitating human and environmental impact of a consumer society will not be a David and Goliath situation. The end of the video really gives a boost of confidence that made me want to check out all the links on the site to find out what people are doing to help and what I can do.
