Before I go lambasting this company, let me put one thing on the table: They are very good at what they do. I have never been disappointed with them when it comes to roadside assistance, or with their car insurance. In fact, they have always been very helpful to me on that end.
Now that I have gotten that out of the way, lets deal with all the bad things they do. Triple A is one of the largest lobbies in Washington pushing against public transportation and against lower emissions standards for cars. Now, I understand the public transportation thing even if I don't agree with it. I can understand why they, as a business of insuring motorists, would want to push against anything that might decrease the number of motorists on the road. I don't like it, i don't agree with it, but i get it.
What I don't get is why they would use so much money - money that comes from their members - to lobby against things like strengthening the clean air act and tougher emissions standards. Am I missing something? How can that even possibly or remotely help them as a business? At this point, it's almost as if they are just trying to screw up the planet for the hell of it. Someone please respond if you can think of any reason why lower emissions standards would hurt Triple A as a business.
There are plenty of sites on the web that go into all the other bad things AAA does. I made the hyperlink at the top of this page one of them, but if you just google "triple a" and "bad' you will find tons of links.
