Never thought I'd like one so much, but after watching a short video about the differences between these Australian dual flush models and the US versions, I understand why Caroma's are better! Caroma offers several different models of dual flush toilets, both 2-piece and the nicer 1-piece. These toilets also feature smooth sides (no visible p-trap which is harder to keep clean), and virtually eliminate clogs with a 4" trapway (standard is typically 2.5"). They have a revolutionary design for flushing, which is called 'washdown', whereas typical toilets use a siphon to remove waste, Caroma uses the force of the water to push the waste down, rather than drag it with a siphon. This makes all the difference, pared with the larger trapway, in eliminating clogs and as one woman said, rarely having to use the #2 flush button. Think of the water savings if we could flush everything down with the #1 button, which only uses .8 gallons per flush. Typical toilets use 5 (!!!) gallons for every flush. These are also competitively priced for the US market, and have the most options available under the EPA Watersense program. They are also very attractively designed, with clean lines, in a variety of styles to suit any decor.
