Great for the planet!
I think AdoptALibrary.org is a wonderful website! Lynn Gaubatz, the creator, is brilliant! She's a fabulous musician, PLUS a visionary!
So many books are kept out of landfills and sent to grateful people! I've gone through all my shelves and adopted a library on a reservation from AdoptALibrary.org. I urge you to do the same!

Green Solution for Retired Books
Next time you are going through your books to thin them out, resell them, give them away or haul them to your local landfill, think GREEN, consider recycling, donating your books to Adopt a Library for reuse to encourage literacy around the world.
Adopt a Library, founded by Lynn Gaubatz, internationally renown soloist and lecturer, began with Lynn's desire to increase literacy among those incarcerated in prisons, on Native American reservations, and in schools around the world.
Adopt a Library has links on the website for Drop-Off Programs, a list of US libraries, international donations, and links to their sister-site Adopt a School and Prose for Cons.
