While Aveda may seem like a good alternative to conventional (ie toxin-laden) makeup and haircare products, don't let their seemingly plant-based formulas fool you. Google any of the mysterious chemicals on their ingredient list, or better yet check their ratings on the Cosmetic Safety Database to see their products' risk. Granted there are not many products with a 1 or 0 rating, as almost all ingredients can be classified as possible allergens. But you can avoid cancer-causing compounds, or those linked to developmental and reproductive toxicity to name a few, and if that isn't reason enough not to buy these products, how about the non-sustainable packaging? Are any of the plant-based ingredients organic?

Aveda products work so well on my skin, and they are gentle enough to use as stage makeup on my young kids when they are in plays. I know that their skin is protected with a good product.

I have used Aveda products now for 15 years. I am very happy with all the products. There is none other that could possibly compare. The customer service is not what I think it should be, however. They could certainly take better care if the small businesses who are selling their products.

pure natural from flowers and plants. Most cosmetics uses some sort of oil base (from petroleum) and all Aveda cosmetic products are from natural remedies. It is safe for all kind of skin types and most of all, helps the environment while remain beautiful.
